CHAPTER 1 — THE DAY THE SKY FORGOT
Length: approximately 20–24 manga pages.
Begin quietly and naturally.
Rivenfall is a modern city in Terra. Show ordinary life: students going to school, traffic, shops, rain clouds, people using phones, normal families. Nobody openly knows that supernatural forces exist.
Introduce KAEL VAREN, age 16.
Kael is funny, impulsive, stubborn and naturally observant. He jokes with his classmates, gets into small trouble and pretends that nothing bothers him. However, subtly show that he is extremely afraid of losing the people he cares about.
Do NOT explain Vayra yet.
Kael's current dream is simple:
"I just want to make sure nobody around me disappears."
Introduce LYRA SEN naturally as one of Kael's closest friends. Lyra is intelligent, observant and calm, but occasionally notices things that other people ignore.
Introduce REN ARKEL briefly, but do not make him Kael's full rival yet. Ren should appear as a calm, highly disciplined student who notices that something strange is happening in the city.
During the school day, small impossible events begin happening.
A classroom clock stops for exactly three seconds.
A student's reflection moves slightly later than they do.
A bird freezes in midair for one moment and then continues flying.
Kael notices these things, but everyone else thinks he imagined them.
After school, dark clouds gather over Rivenfall.
Kael receives a strange feeling that someone is calling his name.
He follows the sound toward an abandoned underground station near the edge of the city.
Lyra follows him because she does not trust him to investigate alone.
Inside the abandoned station, they discover strange white markings on the walls that look like broken circles.
The markings briefly glow.
The temperature suddenly drops.
A distorted creature begins forming from the shadows.
This is the first appearance of a WRAITHBORN.
Do not fully explain what a Wraithborn is.
It should feel frightening, unnatural and mysterious rather than simply looking like a normal monster.
The creature reacts specifically to Kael.
It says:
"Varen."
Kael is shocked because the creature should not know his name.
The Wraithborn attacks.
Kael tries to protect Lyra but has no supernatural ability and is completely outmatched.
Ren arrives and uses his mysterious ability VECTOR for the first time.
He redirects the creature's attack instead of overpowering it.
This should establish that supernatural abilities exist without explaining the entire Vayra system.
Ren tells Kael:
"Run."
Kael refuses because Lyra is trapped.
The Wraithborn attacks again.
Kael instinctively reaches out.
For one impossible instant, the world becomes silent.
Rain stops in midair.
Dust freezes.
The distance between Kael and Lyra suddenly disappears.
Kael appears beside her without crossing the space between them.
This is the first activation of ZEROBOUND.
Do not explain how it works.
Show distorted white cracks around Kael and fragments of an unknown memory floating through the air.
Kael defeats the immediate attack, but the power has a strange consequence.
Afterward, Lyra asks Kael about a small childhood memory they once shared.
Kael knows he should remember it.
But he cannot.
He has forgotten something very small and personal.
He hides it and says he is fine.
Ren stares at him and realizes that Kael's ability is not normal.
Before leaving, the wounded Wraithborn looks at Kael and whispers:
"Your father opened the door."
Then it disappears.
End the chapter with Kael looking up at the night sky.
For one panel, the sky contains a tiny impossible white crack.
Kael hears a voice that sounds like his own:
"Do you remember why you were born?"
Kael looks terrified.
FINAL PAGE:
Close-up of Kael's eye reflecting the white crack in the sky.
Text:
"That night, reality forgot one second.
Kael Varen forgot something much more important."
End Chapter 1.
